Remembering Jordan:

Our main purpose for creating a foundation in Jordan’s memory is to help as many as we can who are struggling with addiction and mental health. We can do this by providing assistance and support to those that do not have insurance and have only limited resources. In addition, we will spread Hope, Love, and Kindness to those who are struggling. Knowing they are loved by their families and their community is such a vital part of their recovery.

After Jordan passed away, I found an Instagram account he had created in January 2020. The page did not have a lot on it because he relapsed soon after he created it. When he went away to rehab, he was not able to access social media while in the program. Jordan named the account SoberFit2020 and explained on the page that he was creating the account to connect with others who were in recovery who also shared his passion for fitness. We knew this was the perfect name for his foundation; SoberFit2020.

Jordan’s drug addiction began around the age of 17. He struggled continuously for the next 6 years. Through everything, Jordan always remained a loving, caring and respectful person to his family. Jordan completed many programs; he was always willing to try. I believe sometimes he tried more for us than for himself. We had so much hope for him and we instilled that hope in him helping him believe he could recover. He tried so hard because he wanted to make us happy…we miss Jordan so much. We miss his texts to just say “I love you” and “have a good day”. We miss his beautiful smile and his sense of humor. Jordan always tried to make everyone laugh and succeeded most of the time. Jordan loved running, swimming, biking and especially weight lifting. He told us on numerous occasions that lifting helped him when he was struggling; it was an outlet for him.

In our hearts we know Jordan would have eventually found long term recovery. He would have made it his mission to help people who were struggling like so many in long term recovery had helped him. We are so thankful that Jordan had people in the recovery programs and recovery community that cared about him and tried to help him succeed. Like us, they never gave up on him.

Addiction does not discriminate. It is not a choice but instead a cruel, ugly disease that can affect anyone. It’s also a family disease that will tear apart the strongest and closest relationships.

We plan to carry on Jordan’s message of hope through his foundation and spread love and kindness to men and women battling this horrific disease. We know Jordan would love that.

Jordan was a beautiful soul inside and out and we miss him every minute of every day. Through the foundation, his memory will live on; he will never be forgotten.

To my Brother

“Jordan Anderson, like millions of other addicts was overlooked and pushed away. He made it his mission to be that helping hand to the very people society overlooked. To tell his story and relate in a way no one else understood. He could understand because like all of us he had his own faults. And those faults that he battled every single day of his life, made him the most courageous man I have ever met. And with his passing, we carry on his story and mission to try and scratch the surface of what a difference he made. He was one hell of a Big Brother.” Conner Anderson
